Heritage Horse Barns: The Best Upscale Barn for Large Farms

By SchwebAdmin

In case you haven’t heard, Raber Storage Barns has another custom structure available for purchase! Our new Heritage Horse Barns are perfect for farms housing multiple horses or other livestock. These large upscale barns are the perfect home base for equestrian owners in the Midwest, with the addition of an efficient tack room and multiple stalls lined with hardwood kickboards. Below, we’ve detailed everything you need to know about our new horse barn style.

Sizing

This horse barn is designed to house multiple horses, so they are larger than our standard horse barns. Our Heritage Barns range in size from 30×29 up to 36×50, depending on your needs. This sizing allows for a 10-foot aisle in the center with horse stalls on either side for an efficient routine.

Siding Options

Heritage Horse Barns are available in metal or LP Smart siding, both of which are highly durable and are available in multiple colors. LP Smart siding has a classic look and provides natural insulation. It is designed to withstand harsh Midwestern weather, resist moisture, and prevent pest damage. However, this siding can warp, dent, or fade over time, which will need to be maintained. Metal siding is also moisture-resistant and won’t warp, crack, or sustain mildew damage. It is highly durable, requires little maintenance, and can provide great thermal protection when combined with our insulation package. Choose a siding that meets all your style, functionality, and durability needs.

Standard Features

Our Heritage Barns are deluxe structures and come with more standard features than our normal horse barns do. They come with at least three horse stalls lined with 4-foot-high hardwood kickboards to prevent the horses from getting injured or ruining the structure when they kick. The stall fronts use a partial steel bar to maximize ventilation, visibility, and safety inside the barn. To prevent condensation and moisture damage, these structures feature a single-bubble moisture barrier to enhance insulation. Finally, these deluxe structures make daily tasks easier with a built-in tack room to efficiently organize your bridles, saddles, brushes, and other equipment.

Upgrade Options

Our most popular upgrades are our electric and insulation packages to make your horse barn more functional and comfortable. If you’d like to protect your barn’s siding, add a 10” extended roof overhang to prevent Midwestern weather from damaging the exterior. We can also add swing-out hay and grain feeders to make feeding your horses more efficient and safe. Our upgrade features for horse barns ensure more cleanliness inside the barn and save time while working with your horses. For more information, check out our Features Needed for a Horse Barn blog.

Benefits

All of our horse barns, specifically our center-aisle horse barns, have many benefits, including:

Accessibility

Our Heritage Barns have a spacious design that provides ample room for multiple stalls, a tack room, a feed room, and more. The center aisle makes it easier to work in, creating a central location for everything for an easy layout. It allows for easy movement of both farmhands and horses, ensuring traffic control inside the barn. The accessibility Heritage Barns provide gives convenient access to every stall and room in the barn.

Ventilation

Good air quality and circulation are vital for maintaining your horses’ respiratory health. Heritage Barns maximize airflow inside the building, especially when the front and back doors are open for a cross breeze. While the center aisle provides airflow, we recommend having other ventilation, like a ridge vent, gable vent, or windows, to add more air circulation during times when the doors are closed. Having consistent, proper ventilation in your horse barn will ensure a fresher environment for yourself and your herd.

Weather Protection

Our horse barns are designed to work in any Midwestern climate. Heritage Barns have an enclosed design, providing all-season weather protection due to everything being inside the barn. No work will need to be done outside; you can efficiently care for your horses, rain or shine. It will keep everything inside dry, especially your tack, blankets, and feed. With a Heritage Barn, you’ll be able to shield your horses from harsh weather conditions, giving them a place to rest during a storm.
